In 1986, what is now a major entertainment event in the southeast was started in a shopping mall parking lot drawing an estimated crowd of 750. From Classic Rock, Country, Rhythm 'n Blues, Rap, Hot Adult Contemporary, Alternative and other genres the annual event has featured the likes of Vince Gill, Randy Travis, Michael McDonald, The Beach Boys, Daughtry, Kansas, Bo Diddley, The Commodores, Gap Band, Kenny Loggins, Gin Blossoms, Sister Hazel, Bret Michaels, KC & the Sunshine Band, 38 Special, Air Supply, Joe Nichols, Everclear and this year, The Guess Who and Sugar Ray. Over the past twenty-seven years, close to 200 musical acts have taken the stage at RiverFest.
